Age

These are the various ages known across lands of Eirth:

  • The Age of Chaos
    Not much is known about the Age of Chaos. Few beings exist and it would be an amazing find for a scholar to discover something from this age. Scholars liken this epoch to the very plane of Limbo itself, only on a universal scale.
  • Age of Sanity
    It is known that during this age the various elements settled into being. From prime elements (Earth, Air, Fire Water) to the Para, Quasi, and Demi elements. Even the force of magic found it’s rules during this time. It is also here that the first creatures of the multiverse emerged from the raw chaos and started to bring forth the worlds using these elements. As to which creatures specifically did this, and how, is a source of speculation— forming the basis and backbone of nearly all known philosophy and religions.
  • Age of Power
    It is known that during the Age of Power, the Yanatir— Or Solars, as Men call them— and the Shar— or Demons— first emerged. Oddly, the few ancient texts and documents discovered from this era mention both of these higher races yet mention nothing of the Gods that created them. It is here that the enmity between the Yanatir and Shar became absolute, and the understanding and knowledge of how to manipulate the elements as defined in the Age of Sanity took shape.
  • Age of Gods
    It is here that the banishment of the Yanatir and Shar from the Prime to their current homes in the Upper Planes and Lower Planes respectively, took place. Done by force and by will of their creators— the Gods, to deal with them and the Great War between them lest it destroy the entire world; potentially even the universe. It left the Gods to walk among the Prime plane alone, and it was then that the races of men, animal, and other beast were brought forth to worship, amuse, and revere the Gods. Many of the the oldest known beings alive on the Prime were born here — The Dragons of Syth, Leviathan, the Eye Tyrant Xerxes and Al-Keterik, to name a few.
    It is also here that the Avatars, Aspects, and Embodiments appeared, potentially as either guardians of that which they protect, or as a first experiment by the Gods to repopulate the Prime Plane. It is also theorized that the Avatars, Aspects, and Embodiments simply took over for Yanatir and Shar that had been banished, as there have been a few Avatars and Embodiments known among men since then.
  • The Great Divide
    The Great Divide is not so much as an Age itself, but a landmark in time where the Ages divided. It signifies the passing of the Gods to their realms from the Prime Plane to balance the forces of magic they had so skewed by the creation of man and the things within the world. It is also said that herein lies the split between the various Shar, aligning them to those that thought guile and cunning could speed their return (Devils) and those that thought overwhelming numbers and sheer power would bring them victory. (Demons) There was a third faction as well, that believed neither or a combination would prevail (Slaad, others…)
  • Age of Prophecy
    The races of Man, that had become dependent upon the Gods for their care were now left to their own devices after the Gods departed from the Great Divide — The races of Men were now adrift to decide their own fates. Wars broke out for trying to renew favor of the Gods, and for land, and for nearly any reason at all across all of the races. The Gods were forced to communicate through vessels — or Prophets — as to their collective will. A direct Personification of the pantheons of Gods themselves into a few chosen vessels of the races of Men. Nearly all were driven mad, for the Gods had not thought to make them so powerful as to be able to contain all of their wills, thoughts, and mind. A Prophet’s ramblings became garbled and cryptic, leading to a continued quest of knowledge. This concentration of the god’s power into a handful of living vessels at a time further tipped the forces of Magic and when the last of the Prophets died, it forced the Book of Ages to change a page. The Gods no longer desired to harm the races of men to communicate their will, and instead decided to dilute their callings even further.
  • Age of Magic (Current Age)
    It is here that we find the current timeline of adventure. Magic is common, though far diluted from its raw strength in earlier ages. Many mages pursue a rumored higher form of magic, as used by the Demi-gods that walk among men, but no easy path to it has been found. The gods also now speak directly only rarely to those on the Prime (Priests and those that follow holy paths) and appear to them in the flesh even less, though they certainly have a way of making their will and power known through them.
