Deng

Deng is to knowledge as Vana is to magic, and indeed many of the mages that fled the war in Vana had ended up here. The major attraction in the city of Deng is the Great Library, and one can see it before one has even entered the city. Aside from the Library’s monsterous size — a square mile in each direction, and nearly fifty floors; 25 above ground and 25 below — it never closes, and fire is not permitted within. Special sigils adorn the cielings to prevent any fire within, save in a few designated locations. Special lights courtesy of the local mage’s guild are available at the main desk for scholars to help find their way, and compensations are given for returned lost light tokens if discovered among the passageways or rooms of the Library. The Library is rumored to contain a copy, or even originals, of every single book every written, though that is considered to be simply a boast by those that work there. It is also rumored that sages, mages and others have even died while searching for whatever it is that they were looking for within the bowels of the deeper rooms and have yet to be re-discovered. It is recommended that Scholars use caution when venturing into some of the higher or lower levels of the library. Given the Library’s size, it may well be the Scholar is venturing into an area that no one has been to for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
