Melencholy

Melencholy

As the golden fields of grains and yellow stone structures define Vladan Keep, the blue marble of Melencholy define it’s borders. The city itself is unremarkable, having most guilds, and a fair market place- ruled by a local govenor and having a moderate defense force as well. Most structures within the city— and even the roads— are shades of blue due to the marble quarries nearby.

What makes Melencholy unique is a pervasive feeling of depression and apathy. According to the Drinjin, the Dragon of Syth, flyovers indicate the marble viens and housing have been set up over a magical node- a river of the energy of magic. Unfortuantely, the streets and patterns of houses fall into -quiet by accident- the world’s largest symbol of Hopelessness. Even staying within the confines of the city for a few days, people have reported odd mental changes in spirit and will.

Predictably, the town is too apathetic to change the layout and have even become somewhat fanatical about defending it.

Adenturers are advised to have some sort of magical protection vs mind effects if prolonged exposure is needed. It is known that some buildings offer protection from the accidental mental magic as well within the city. An incomplete list: The Mage Guild, Most Temples and Churches, Town Hall, and The Barraks are known to provide shelter from the long term effects.
